A Family Portrait

A family portrait : BREAKING THE SILENCE is a project of the Institute of Creative Arts for Progress in Africa(ICAPA) Trust, that seeks to give space to survivors of any form of violence perpetrated for whatever reason, to speak out through different forms of art. The projects aim is to BREAK THE SILENCE SO AS TO BREAK THE CYCLE. This collection presents short stories based on accounts that were collected from Zimbabwean communities in 2010. These accounts have also been presented to communities as community theatre dramas. ICAPA continues to engage Zimbabwean communities with both the community dramas and the short stories. ICAPA Trust plans to develop the accounts into other narratives including film. The Trust is also working on plans to duplicate the project in other violence-stricken countries on the African continent and globally.
